Forest Retreats

Forest Retreats based at Hill Farm, Tintern is a family business run by husband and wife Hayley and Tom Court.

It has always been our dream to run our own tourism business and in 2015 after Hayley was made redundant, we saw an opportunity in the market for retreats in the local area. Since then, we have regularly run retreats in various locations until in 2018; we were lucky enough to find the perfect location and purchased Hill Farm, Tintern to converted into an Eco Retreat Centre.

Tom is a local lad and met Hayley at university in Birmingham over 20 years ago. We have three daughters and two dogs, we love the outdoors and are passionate about environmental protection.

My favourite part of running retreats is seeing the change in our guests from when they arrive after a busy week feeling frazzled, to when they leave feeling relaxed and full of gratitude and joy.

My passion grew for yoga after suffering severe anxiety after having my second daughter. Yoga helps me get out of my busy head into my body, helping me to feel more relaxed and in control of my emotions.

I also enjoy hiking, cycling and dancing!

My favourite part of running retreats is feeding our guests with tasty nutritional dishes and sourcing local seasonal produce. I also enjoy deepening my knowledge of trees and the natural environment through forest bathing

I am learning a lot about upcycling and I have enjoyed constructing Hill Farm – especially our quirky horsebox shower.

When I get some time off, I like to go bike packing with friends and spending time canoeing on The River Wye.

My visit to Hill Farm couldn’t have come at a better time. I arrived feeling slightly frazzled and very tired and left feeling calm and energised to continue doing my job and caring for my family AND myself. Highly recommended!

I started zoom yoga with Hayley at the beginning of (the first) lockdown and I’m so grateful for the time I’ve spent with her and a lovely group of people on the mat since! Hayley puts so much thought and energy into her classes, shaping them around a different theme each week, sharing inspiring thoughts and ideas, introducing us to new practises, and always bringing the fun and positive vibes – and that’s on top of all the amazing benefits of yoga which I’ve only properly understood through her teaching. I feel happy and calm in body and spirit after every class – would recommend to anyone who wants to fell the same! Thank you Hayley!

I have just come away from a weekend retreat and it was absolutely brilliant. Hayley and Tom are fantastic hosts and couldn’t do enough for us. Hayley’s combination of Yin and Yang yoga, Tom’s forest bathing, and nourishing, tasty veggie food, the eco spa and yurt created the perfect blend of relaxation and fun throughout the weekend. The gong bath and massage were also wonderful additions. Thanks so much!

Hayley supported me wonderfully through my cancer treatment, always feeling like a safe pair of hands, and enabling me to relax, reconnect with my poorly body, and manage my aches and pains. Since stopping treatment seeing Hayley has become such a treat and a really important way for me to build my strength and confidence back. Plus it’s the most wonderfully relaxing experience – I love it!

I have just come back from a yoga and well-being retreat and it was fantastic. The farm is idyllic, and only about 45 minutes from Bristol on a good run. Hayley is a wonderful yoga teacher, technically skilled but very kind and helpful, while Tom's Forest Bathing sessions are a really enlightening experience. The food is fantastic too, and they are the perfect hosts. The only bad thing about the retreat was having to leave on the Sunday!
